Bible in 365 Days – Day 73

DAY 73.png

Focus Chapters:

  • Deuteronomy 6-9

Standout Verse(s):

Deuteronomy 6:20-25 NLT

“In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’

“Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. The Lord did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes, dealing terrifying blows against Egypt and Pharaoh and all his people. He brought us out of Egypt so he could give us this land he had sworn to give our ancestors. And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.’

Observation (s):

  1. The present generation of Israelites was charged with ensuring that their descendants understood the history and why of the covenant that exists between God and His people.

    “In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’

  2. The Israelites are expected to tell their children the whole truth of their stories and how God intervened and came through for them, countless times.

Application:

As a young girl, I enjoyed hanging out with elderly people. They had some awesome stories to tell and so many lessons and wisdom to share. These stories are the reason why I successfully avoided some of the mistakes that statistically plague my age group.

It’s a pity, that for many Christians, soul-wrenching testimony sharing is not an approach that is wildly used. We enjoy sharing the feel-good testimonies that fill us with a sense of pride and accomplishment but studiously avoid the stories that dig into our past shames of who we were and still are and where God delivered us from. Our stories of redemption should be shared because they are the ones that touch the heart and soul and stir conviction.

When your children ask why you serve the Lord, don’t be afraid to share your testimonies. Tell them of your Saviour and what and how He saved you. Tell them of your Provider and how He provided for you under dire circumstances. Tell them of your Miracle maker and Chief Commander and of the miracles that He has wrought in your life and the battles He had orchestrated and fought on your behalf. Tell them of your standing covenant with God and all the blessings that come with it. Don’t keep your stories to yourself. Tell them so that future generations can know of and seek after the God whom you have served.

I am a dynamic young lady who loves the Lord and seek to have a joy that no one can take away. My all-time favourite thing to do is gaining discoveries by design from My Father during our time each day. Reading, learning and trying new things falls behind in a close second place. My dream is to use my God-given talents to positively impact as many people as possible. As a proud Wolmerian, with a zest for life, I adhere to the “Age Quod Agis” motto in that whatsoever I do, I always do it to the best of my ability.
