Focus Chapters:

  • Numbers 16-18

Standout Verse(s):

THE ACTION

Numbers 16:8-10 NLT

Then Moses spoke again to Korah: “Now listen, you Levites! Does it seem insignificant to you that the God of Israel has chosen you from among all the community of Israel to be near him so you can serve in the Lord’s Tabernacle and stand before the people to minister to them? Korah, he has already given this special ministry to you and your fellow Levites. Are you now demanding the priesthood as well?

Observation (s):

  1. Of all the Israelites, God specially selected the Levites to serve Him in the Tabernacle and minister to His people.

    Then Moses spoke again to Korah: “Now listen, you Levites!Does it seem insignificant to you that the God of Israel has chosen you from among all the community of Israel to be near him so you can serve in the Lord’s Tabernacle and stand before the people to minister to them?

  2. Korah did not trust in God’s judgement. He allowed his own aspirations and jealousies to blind him.

    Korah, he has already given this special ministry to you and your fellow Levites. Are you now demanding the priesthood as well?

Application:

A few years ago, I was appointed to my first leadership position in the church, as a part of the Youth Ministry. Out of all the youths, my pastor and God saw something in me that prompted the selection, even though I was a member at the church for less than a year. After the first few weeks, my excitement at being an unknown given a coveted position transformed into silent jealousy and mutiny: “Why wasn’t I seen as being fit for the head position instead of an assistant?” I found myself trying to outshine my friend and judging her every action.

Thankfully, unlike Korah, I never challenged God or my pastor outright about the decision. In time, as school and teaching increased their demands on my time, I grew to recognize the blessing of being given the assistant position. In fact, sometimes my leader had to undertake my duties when I was late or unable to make it to relevant youth meetings. Overtime, I also recognized that she supplemented the areas I was weak in and I hers. Together we made the dynamic duo!

You were positioned for a reason. God places you where you need to be. Trust His judgement. Be content.

I am a dynamic young lady who loves the Lord and seek to have a joy that no one can take away. My all-time favourite thing to do is gaining discoveries by design from My Father during our time each day. Reading, learning and trying new things falls behind in a close second place. My dream is to use my God-given talents to positively impact as many people as possible. As a proud Wolmerian, with a zest for life, I adhere to the “Age Quod Agis” motto in that whatsoever I do, I always do it to the best of my ability.
