Bible in 365 Days – Day 57

Focus Chapters:
- Leviticus 27
- Numbers 1
Standout Verse(s):
Numbers 1:4-5, 1:16-17 NLT
“and you will be assisted by one family leader from each tribe. “These are the tribes and the names of the leaders who will assist you:
These are the chosen leaders of the community, the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the heads of the clans of Israel.”
So Moses and Aaron called together these chosen leaders, and they assembled the whole community of Israel on that very day.
Observation (s):
- God chose the individuals who became the heads of the clans of Israel and told Moses and Aaron his choices.
“and you will be assisted by one family leader from each tribe. These are the tribes and the names of the leaders who will assist you:
These are the chosen leaders of the community, the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the heads of the clans of Israel.”
- Moses and Aaron called together the chosen leaders first before they assembled the whole community of Israel.
So Moses and Aaron called together these chosen leaders, and they assembled the whole community of Israel on that very day.
Application:
I harboured hidden resentment at church due to the numerous positions I was publicly appointed to without consultation or forewarning. I completed a 3-year tenure in a youth position that I was appointed to without consultation, only to hear at the end of my tenure that I was being reassigned to another position in the youth department, again, without anyone consulting or discussing the matter with me. A deep resentment festered as I felt no one respected me enough to personally tell me what was to occur so that I could be mentally prepared. My problem was not with the appointment but with the manner in which it was done. I had no such issues when I was asked to teach sunday school or appointed to the choir or placed on and eventually leading the praise and worship team. These were all positions I had chosen or made a conscious decision to partake of after the request was made.
Think about it, it is rare in the physical realm for leaders to be appointed without getting a period to prepare, guided or learn the ropes. In some positions, leaders are given years to prepare!
God tells our leaders who is suitable for various positions. Like Moses and Aaron, it is our leaders’ responsibility to personally debrief the chosen ones before making public announcements or gathering the assembly. Can you imagine the chaos if Moses and Aaron had called all of Israel together and then told everyone the news of the new appointments and, in the same breath, expected the men to begin working immediately? Things would most definitely not have gone off without a hitch. It is not okay for the public announcements to be made before the chosen ones are debriefed. Yes, God chose the new leaders but being mentally unprepared and thrown in and told you are expected to swim is oftentimes a recipe for disaster, especially when you have not been on-boarded or have any notions of how to swim or that you would be required to swim.

I am a dynamic young lady who loves the Lord and seek to have a joy that no one can take away. My all-time favourite thing to do is gaining discoveries by design from My Father during our time each day. Reading, learning and trying new things falls behind in a close second place. My dream is to use my God-given talents to positively impact as many people as possible. As a proud Wolmerian, with a zest for life, I adhere to the “Age Quod Agis” motto in that whatsoever I do, I always do it to the best of my ability.
