Bible in 365 Days – Day 26

Focus Chapters:
- Job 26-29
Standout Verse(s):
Job 27:3-6 NLT
As long as I live,
while I have breath from God,
my lips will speak no evil,
and my tongue will speak no lies.
I will never concede that you are right;
I will defend my integrity until I die.
I will maintain my innocence without wavering.
My conscience is clear for as long as I live.
Observation (s):
- As a man of God, Job dedicated his life to guarding his tongues against evil and lies. Even under immense pressure from his family and friends, he stood unwavering to that cause.
Application:
I can certainly see why God boasted about Job. In today’s world, especially with the culture of needing to fit in, it is hard to maintain one’s integrity when we seem to be the only ones on the path of righteousness. Even within our safe spaces, at times, we are placed into situations where the mass culture demands that we relinquish in our innocence and integrity in order to be held collectively responsible. It doesn’t even have to be a big thing. I can be as simple as tell a little white lie to support a job. Several times, I’ve been labelled an informer or non-team player because I refused to actively or inactively participate in joke schemes that would call my spiritual integrity into question. As Christians, we are called to a similar cause. Job maintained his integrity beneath immense peer pressure. Why shouldn’t we? There is certainly a lot less guilt to address in the aftermath.
XOXO,
Chañel
