There is life and death in the power of the tongue! Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains! Faith “calls” it done and that settles it! There are so many scriptures/quotes that deal with the individual powers of the tongue and faith. Can you imagine if they were put together as a dynamic duo?

It was the summer of 2012. I had just completed 6th form and gotten my acceptance letters for 3 universities. One in the States (giving me a 1/2 scholarship) and two in Jamaica. I decided to forgo the one in States because this girl was dumb and in love (not that I regret the decision now).

I brought the two Jamaican decisions to my Pastor and asked him to seek from God where I should be. He did and told me my future was at UWI. Now this girl had not a dime to her name (I come from a single-parent family where finances are tight). Whenever someone asked me what I was going to do, I would declare, “Jesus is my Daddy, He has me covered!”. I didn’t want to do student loans because I didn’t have the arm and leg to repay after. I, however, reluctantly started the process.

Throughout this time I wasn’t worried because I truly believed that Daddy did have me covered. I had already declared it into the atmosphere and given Him something to work with. About the July, I got a call regarding a scholarship I had applied for. I was the only female shortlisted for an interview! I felt sure this was my breakthrough but imagine my surprise and disappointment when I learned that I didn’t get through!

I thought then, now my only option was to do student loans and get a job. God, being the provider that He is had already positioned me for a job. After this, I continued the prep work for student loans. It was then something happened that prevented me from completing the process. I was totally out of options!

Can I tell you that it’s when you have tried plan A-Z that God will step in with a plan 0?! By the September, God opened a window and I got a grant that covered more than half my tuition! Between that window that opened 3 years straight without fail and my salary, I was able to go through university and finish without owing a dime!

The point of my rambling? Your tongue and your faith are two great weapons by themselves. How about combining them and utilizing their power? There is power in your faith. There is power in your tongue. Utilize the dynamic duo and declare your faith into the atmosphere and watch God work.
