God’s got you COVERED – Part 1

For the past few months, I kept talking about God having my back and tonight I want to share with you a 3-part testimony in a 2-part series. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 DAYS!!!

FRIDAY MORNING
Though tired from my week of Youth Congress activities, I woke early with the resolve that I wanted to reach work early to get more things done.

Despite my efforts, I still found myself running late. When I got to the taxi stand, I didn’t take the first taxi that passed because I didn’t feel like taking it. This was out of character because when I’m late, I usually rush. As I stood at the taxi stand, one of my church brothers arrived and we began talking. Two more taxis passed, I didn’t take them.

I finally took the fourth taxi. By then I was really late. In the taxi, I was really cross with myself about my fouled plans and I mentally berated every driver who impeded my travel. I was about 3 minutes away from my stop when a huge truck, driving slowly stopped in the middle of the road. My driver began to gesticulate and cuss-out the truck driver.

I then realized that a lot of drivers were making middle-of-the-road turns. The road was in an uproar! Persons where running all over! The road ahead was blocked off! It was then I heard a gunshot! My driver quickly turned the car around and took a detour. We heard several more shots in the vicinity.

I later learned that I had just caught the tail-end of the gun battle between police and gunmen after police had shot a young man in his home. Had I been early as I had originally planned, I would have been caught right in the middle of the gun battle.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON
I had planned from Thursday to visit the bank on Friday morning because I had just realized that my internet bill was due and I needed some cash. Throughout Friday morning into the afternoon, several issues happened at work.

My computer crashed during a simple upgrade. It is currently in a coma! I found myself rushing around trying to see if I could get a replacement to do some work that had an urgent deadline. On top of that, I had 3 back-to-back meetings for almost 4 hours! I ended up almost going without lunch after a friend forgot to order for me. On top of that, there was a mixup with the lunches when they did arrive!

I found myself complaining to God that truly, Friday was an awful day! Worse, yes you guessed it, I hadn’t made it to the bank!

But can I tell you, that in all this my God was at work! I learned in the evening that there had been a shooting in an office right beside the bank! This was about the time I had originally planned to go! The strange thing is I realized on Saturday that my internet bill was not due until Monday!

I learned something really important that day. From the messiness of a day can come an extraordinary blessing! God truly knows what He is doing! TRUST HIM!! Had I not been stalled on both occasions, who knows what could have happened? HE TRULY HAS ME COVERED! If God awesome one more time!

XOXO
