A few weeks ago, God dropped this thought into my spirit “you are who you are because of yesterday”. I wrote the thought down in my phone and left it there. Last night as I was browsing through the phone, I came upon the thought. This time, I asked, ” God, how do you want me to expound on this thought?” As I was about to fall asleep, Job came to mind, so tonight I will be talking about Job.

You know Job, the man who God was really proud of but allowed the devil to test his faith. I can’t even how imagine how Job felt as one by one he got news of his various misfortunes. Children killed. Cattle and possessions stolen. House destroyed. Misfortune after misfortune, all in ONE DAY. And if that wasn’t bad enough, his health went, then his wife and finally, his friends.

Can you imagine it? You have been serving God faithfully for years and suddenly everything starts falling apart and you are left wondering, “God, why?” With that comes persons in your ear proclaiming that you are being punished. You are at a loss. One year, two year, three year passes and you begin to lose hope as things get worse. You begin to think God has forsaken you. Will you curse God and die?

You seem to have forgotten something! The darkest part of the day is just before dawn! You seem to have forgotten that another chapter is yet to be written! You seem to have forgotten that God shall keep you under his wings! You seem to have forgotten that the devil cannot touch you without God’s permission. You seem to have forgotten that God is still God!

Job’s today got better! His latter was greater than his former! God enlarged his territory! His health was restored! He got back his wealth! He got a new family! Have you gotten the picture?! Your test is an opportunity for you to grow? Are you gonna wither in your adversity? Are you gonna sit and complain as God covers you with dirt? Or will you take the opportunity to sink in your roots and come up blooming?

You are who you are because of the adversity of yesterday. Do not be defeated by the dirt? God covered you for the greater good. GROW!
