Date Night

So let me just spoil the surprise from now, YES I HAD FUN! Out of the blue, a friend who I haven’t seen in a couple years, since he migrated, called me. Much to my surprise, he was in Jamaica and wanted to take me out for my birthday (a week before my birthday). Now, I am generally skeptical about situations like these, especially when I haven’t seen the guy for a while, but I said what the heck and said yes.

I made the effort to doll up. I was a slender woman in a summer dress and her favorite heels with beautiful hair that constantly played peekaboo with her nape.

He was on time, that I like. The conversation was light and hilarious. He kept me laughing the whole evening. Who knew international relations professionals could be so fun? I was truly blown away when he showed that he listened when I spoke all those years ago when we were close. He got three things right:

  1. He remembered that I had a thing for nature and seeing the stars and the moon. He chose a spot that gave us the perfect view.
  2. He remembered that I had a thing for chocolate. We had snickers for dessert 😄.
  3. He remembered my fascination with classical movies and had packed Shakespeare and Jane Austen adaptations.

As you have probably guessed by now, we ended up doing his version of a drive-in. He brought the ride, the snacks and the movie and check this, he did not touch his phone not even once. Honestly, it was one of the sweetest thing I’d experienced in a long time from a perfect gentleman. I don’t regret saying yes.

This experience simply reminded me of the rewards of taking chances. Also, the cover doesn’t determine how great the book will be. Honestly, when I hear international relations, I yawn but going on a date with a guy who earns his living doing international relations?… that’s a different story. 😎 I must say, thank you for a lovely evening.

What has been your most favorite date since the year began? Tell me in the comments area below.

XOXO,
Chañel.
